January 2019 News!

Family Engagement

Happy January 2019!

The start of a new year is usually the time we all push the reset button, attempt to get more organized, and challenge ourselves to learn more. In the spirit of learning and connecting, here are some resources that I thought may be of interest to you.

There are nearly 100 Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) and Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs) in the US and Territories. They work with families of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities, birth to 26. Two of their primary functions are:

Helping parents participate effectively in their children’s education and development

Partnering with professionals and policymakers to improve outcomes for all children with disabilities

If you haven’t connected with the Parent Center near you, I encourage you to reach out and learn about the support they offer.

Families Helping Families E-Learning Mini Modules

The Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center, Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans, has created E-Learning Modules—interactive, 10-minute long mini trainings.  They address frequently asked questions and are designed for parents to get immediate answers to pressing questions.

Happy Connecting,
