NFADB Board Meeting sets the stage for exciting initiatives in the coming year!

Family Engagement

Greetings! One of my favorite roles as the Coordinator of NCDB’s Family Engagement activities is to serve as an advisor to the National Family Association for Deaf-Blind (NFADB). This past weekend, I had the pleasure in participating in NFADB’s annual board meeting held on the campus of the Helen Keller National Center. The primary purpose of this meeting was to identify NFADB’s top priorities for this coming year. Through the course of this two day meeting, it quickly became evident that board members share a deep and strong commitment to promoting family leadership to advocate for individualized supports for people who are deaf-blind. At the end of this often exhausting but also energizing meeting, exciting plans unfolded to address this critical issue. I invite and welcome the voice of NFADB board members to this forum to better explain the activities NFDB will be conducting this year and hope others in the deaf-blind network interested in family leadership will join in this extremely important discussion.

Kudos to NFADB for its commitment and leadership to families across the country who have a member who is deaf-blind!!

It is hard to believe that it is just a week today that we were traveling home from our annual face to face NFADB Board meeting. There is so much preparation prior to the meeting and then we work so hard together for those two days and then we are home continuing our work. It is amazing to bring a group together all for the good of families dealing with deaf-blindness. We have some realistic goals for our organization to continue to help family members gain knowledge and to advocate for their family members with deaf-blindness. There certainly is a lot of passion with in the board of NFADB and with the help of our growing membership, we should be able to be one loud, strong voice!
