Supporting Family Leadership Training

Family Engagement

Interested in family leadership? Or need some new or different ideas on how to promote family leadership?

Check out the new website familieslead.org. The website is filled with wonderful resources that can support the provision of technical assistance to families in a variety of ways. It houses an array of materials and strategies organized to enhance planning efforts when designing parent leadership training activities. It offers tools for parent leaders interested in promoting leadership skills in other parents and family members and provides a foundation for any individual parent or family member seeking to become more effective in their advocacy skills.

This website has been a community effort. It is a collection of ideas and resources shared by many in our network, as well as the larger TA&D community. We hope this is just the beginning and the website will continue to grow as others contribute materials found to be effective in promoting family leadership.

Great ideas Patti! Lots of things to consider in moving the site forward. I know that there is going to be a group of family specialists from projects coming together virtually to share and collaborate. Maybe there is an opportunity to show them around the site!

This website is so great to see! This truly was a work in progress since 2009 and has so much information to share. This resource is going to be a great tool for parents, families and professionals. I would love to see and have the leadership trainings begin to recycle again through state deaf-blind projects and PTI's- it would be great collaboration! Trainings could happen really quickly as all the information to do trainings are now right on this website!
