Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University
: Project Director VDBP & Consultant NCDB
I am based at the Partnership for People with Disabilities (a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities or UCEDD) at Virginia Commonwealth University where I serve three primary roles. I am the Project Director for the Virginia Project for Children and Young Adults with Deaf-Blindness (VDBP), a consultant for NCDB supporting the technical assistance for the Intervener and Qualified Personnel Initiative and the Literacy Initiative, and the Education Content Leader at the Partnership for People with Disabilities. I have seen the impact of well-trained interveners and access to meaningful literacy instruction when teaching as both a classroom and itinerant teacher in central Florida. Recognizing the barriers to providing accessible and meaningful educational services to students with deaf-blindness occur at all levels of the educational system, I value all of the opportunities allowing me to support the efforts of a wide variety of dedicated individuals working to improve education for individuals with deaf-blindness.
