I originally moved to Austin with my guitar and my band and worked as a musician for a number of years - yes, sometimes I still play music, but I have quit trying to make my living that way - it's hard to do!
I was drawn to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) to work as a substitute, and supplement my musician's income (or lack thereof). That was almost 18 years ago! During my time at TSBVI I have worked as a teaching assistant, a self-contained classroom teacher, and an Outreach deafblind specialist. As a teacher, I taught both elementary kids and young adults 18-22, with deafblindness and who were MIVI. For the past six years, I have worked in the Outreach dept. as part of the TX deafblind project.
