New Vision Screening and Referral Resources from the Office of Head Start
The Office of Head Start at the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety has three new resources on vision screening and referral:
- Vision Screening for Young Children – Information on vision screening and strategies to prepare families for their child’s screening
- Optotype-based Vision Screenings – Information about optotype-based screenings, the most common type of vision screening for children ages 3 to 5, that examines how well a child sees by using special pictures or letters
- Vision Screening Referrals – Steps to take when referring a child to a vision specialist
Vision screening helps pinpoint potential issues early so they can be corrected and the child can be referred to the care they need.
