Wrap-Up
Takeaway
Sign language and braille are modes of access to language and printed materials. Learners who are deaf-blind may utilize these modes independently or in combination with other modalities. Sign language and braille are abstract forms of communication and should be considered as higher levels of communication. We hope interveners are inspired and encouraged to pursue at least a working knowledge of one or both and thus create improved access to language for their students.
